This is a tournament bringing together champions of the six confederations (UEFA, CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, CAF, AFC and OFC) as well as hosts (in this case - Brazil) and world champions Spain and will be played between 15 and 30 June 2013 in Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, and Salvador. 3 matches will be played in Salvador: 2 qualifiers on Thursday, 20th June (Urrguay against Nigeria) and Saturday, 22nd June (Brazil playing Italy), and the 3rd-place play-off on Sunday, 30th June. There is also the famous mid-winter festival called São João on the 23rd June! It is essentially a warm up tournament fro the world cup hosts to test their infrsastucture and give the home team some competitive matches to prepare for the following year's World Cup.
